Role Overview
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking highly motivated Database Engineers with a passion for technology and customer service. As part of the AWS Support team, you'll work at the forefront of cloud technologies, helping individuals and businesses transition their computing infrastructure and applications to the cloud. You’ll provide technical support for mission-critical applications, engage with global customers, and leverage your database and Linux expertise to drive exceptional customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties
- Solve complex technical cases for global customers via telephone, email, and live chat.
- Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to create tailored solutions.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams to reproduce and resolve customer issues.
- Support customers during critical events and provide technical guidance.
- Develop tutorials, how-to videos, and other documentation for the developer community.
- Lead projects aimed at improving customer support processes and experiences.
- Work on highly complex issues spanning multiple AWS services.
Additional Contributions
- Mentor and coach new hires.
- Partner with development teams to address complex technical challenges.
- Design and implement tools/scripts to improve team efficiency.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with AWS standards.
Daily Work Environment
As a customer support-focused role, each day involves interacting with customers to resolve technical issues across multiple channels. You'll also participate in team-wide initiatives, training sessions, and strategic projects that align with AWS's global standards.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical role.
- 2+ years of experience in Database Administration:
- Expertise in Oracle/PostgreSQL (Installation, Configuration, Backup/Recovery, High Availability, Replication, Monitoring).
- Proficiency in DB performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Fundamental knowledge of Linux and networking concepts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in tools like DB Query Analyzers, query tuning, and slow query optimization.
- Exposure to virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Xen, Hypervisor).
- Prior working experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, EBS, RDS, and DynamoDB.
- Familiarity with security concepts and best practices:
- Knowledge of IPsec, VPN, Load Balancing, Iperf, MTR, Routing Protocols, SSH.
- Experience managing full application stacks (from OS to custom applications).
- Familiarity with monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
